Sea Water Fish

Common Names: Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Bluefin Tuna
Scientific Name: Thunnus (various species)
Tuna species inhabit tropical and temperate oceans worldwide, with major fishing grounds in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. These fast-swimming pelagic fish migrate across vast distances, occupying open waters from surface to depths of 500 meters.
Tuna are prized for their robust flavor, firm meaty texture, and nutritional richness. They vary in size and species, from the smaller Skipjack to the massive Bluefin, which can exceed 450 kg. Tuna plays a crucial role in commercial fisheries and global seafood markets.
Harvested primarily using purse seines, longlines, and pole-and-line fishing, Tuna is processed fresh or frozen to preserve quality. Processing includes gutting, filleting, and vacuum packing. IQF and block frozen forms are standard for export markets.
Tuna is an excellent source of high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. It provides essential vitamins B12 and D, selenium, and supports cardiovascular health, brain function, and inflammation reduction.
Thanks to its firm, meaty texture and rich flavor, Tuna is versatile in many cuisines:
